Krisha and Peace Officer were the big winners at the 2015 SXSW Film Festival, taking home the both the jury prizes in narrative and documentary competitions, respectively, and the Audience Awards.
Krisha is director Trey Edward Shults first feature film, adapted from his short film of the same name about a girl, Krisha, played by Krisha Fairchild, who reunites with her family for the holidays. A majority of the familial cast is played by the Fairchild family, with a few professional actors rounding out the cast. And Peace Officer, written and directed by Brad Barber and Scott Christopherson, explores the militarization of American police departments.
Michael Showalter‘s Hello, My Name is Doris, starring Sally Field and New Girl’s Max Greenfield, won the Audience Award in the headliners category.
