In an effort to make the Oscars more engaged on social media, The Academy is launching ‘#MyOscarPhoto,’ a Twitter contest that will allow fans to get close to their favorite stars, at least via Photoshop.

To enter, you must follow @TheAcademy on Twitter and tweet a “red carpet-ready photo” of yourself using the hashtag ‘#MyOscarPhoto.’ On the red carpet, celebrities will pose in front of a green screen, creating blended images with submissions and making red carpet memories for viewers watching at home. Some of the photos will be featured on the ‘Oscars Red Carpet Live’ pre-show beginning at 4 p.m. PT, though to be eligible one must sign an online release form that can be found here.

#MyOscarPhoto:

“This is a way to create an once-in-a-lifetime experience for fans and give them the opportunity to literally be a part of the red carpet excitement. We think it will be a lot of fun – not only getting to see a photo of themselves on the red carpet, but also getting to see who poses in a photo with them,” said the Academy’s managing director of digital media and marketing, Josh Spector.

Submissions are already pouring in, some more serious than others.

A few are requesting celebrities for their final photos.
