Following the announcements that Pharrell, Idina Menzel and U2 would be performing at the Oscars, final Best Original Song nominee Karen O has been confirmed to perform at the ceremony as well.
Karen O, of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, wrote “The Moon Song” with director Spike Jonze for the film Her and will perform the song live for the first time on television at the 86th Academy Awards.
It’s a tough race for composers this year, even after “Alone Yet Not Alone” was disqualified. “The Moon Song” is competing against Pharrell’s “Happy” from Despicable Me 2, “Let It Go” from Frozen (as performed by Idina Menzel) and U2’s “Ordinary Love” from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.
The 86th Oscars, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, will air live Sunday, March 2, 2014 on ABC at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
