The Oscars’ Red Carpet: What To Expect

The Red Carpet at the Oscars is the equivalent to the commercials during the Super Bowl, some tune in solely for the former.

This year at the Academy Awards, many in the fashion know predict, it will be all about sophistication. Popular colors of the evening are sure to be red, pure white and midnight black, according to StyleLine Magazine editor Karen Buscemi. TLC’s Sam Saboura agrees, due to the amounts of black and white couture shown by Dior and Chanel in Paris last month.

Buscemi lists prints as the one thing she doesn’t expect to see on Oscar night, according to ABC.

While those in the fashion industry predict and even encourage classic glamour over statement-making dresses of awards shows past, Cher is not impressed with the conservative red carpet choices. "I mean, I thought we were in show business. People can say I dressed like a fool, I don't have good taste. It's not about good or bad clothes; it's about freedom,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “People in our business do things that are out of the ordinary, so why seek approval? God knows every one of them has enough money to wear what they want!"

Who should you be on the lookout for? Oscar-nominated attendees Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway – all of which made best-dressed lists for the Golden Globes. It remains to be seen if anyone’s style choice will get their right leg its own Twitter account as Angelina Jolie managed last year.
