Seth MacFarlane And Kristin Chenoweth Close Oscars With 'Here’s To the Losers'

Host Seth MacFarlane and Broadway icon Kristin Chenoweth closed out the 85th Academy Award with an ode to the night’s losers.

As the credits rolled, way after the three hours set for the show had come and gone, MacFarlane and Chenoweth took to the stage for their much-anticipated closing number. Their duet “Here’s to the Losers” served to console those who fell short of being awarded an Oscar during the ceremony.

"Here's to all the losing works of art, from Lincoln to Amour," the duo sang. "To the disappointed actors wondering what they dressed up for. Now the real performance start, with phony smiles at the ball. Here's to the losers, bless them all!"

The pair also highlighted nominated actors in their quip-filled verses. Beasts of the Southern Wild’s 9-year-old star Quvenzhané Wallis got a special shout out when MacFarlane and Chenoweth sang "Here's to nominee Quvenzhané, lift up that little head. You'll be at the future Oscars, when the rest of us are dead. /You have all Tom Cruise's talent and you're equally as tall! Here's to the losers, bless them all!"

“Oh Bradley Cooper! Get your chin off the floor,” they continued. “Here’s your silvering lining: You’ll do Hangover 4.”

While MacFarlane and Chenoweth’s closing number was cute, the night held quite a few more memorable musical performances. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jennifer Hudson, the cast of Les Miserables, Adele, Nora Jones and Barbra Streisand all had brighter moments in the musical spotlight.
