Charlize Theron Debuts New Pixie Cut At Oscars

Charlize Theron, 37, not only got press for her new sleek hairdo at Sunday night's Oscars at the Dolby Theatre, but she also lit up the stage with fellow dancer Channing Tatum, 32, when the appealing duo foxtrotted to Seth Macfarlane's live rendition of "The Way You Look Tonight," which was originally performed by Fred Astaire in the movie Swing Time and, fittingly, won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1936.

Theron entered stage right in a flowing ivory gown that billowed beautifully with her moves as soon as she took the arm of Tatum, who famously trained as a dancer in his youth before hitting it big — a history that was loosely immortalized in last year's Magic Mike. Less well known, however, is Theron's history as a ballet dancer. She even performed in New York productions of Swan Lake and The Nutcracker before becoming one of the world's most statuesque actresses.

Despite her dancing history, Theron admitted that she was a little nervous when Macfarlane asked her to take the twirl. "I was sort of tricked into it," she told reporters, according to E! Online. "I thought it was going to be something smaller, like he pulls me up from the audience and we do a little spin. But then he was like, 'Rehearsals start Monday!"

The experience, Theron said, was "completely nerve-wracking. "I thought I was going to have to wear one of my son's diapers." Theron was referring, of course, to her son, Jackson, whom she adopted in March 2012. And she had only good things to say about dancing partner Tatum. "How could I not dance with Channing Tatum? He's so wonderful! He's so classy — and he's about to be a dad!" Sure enough, Tatum showed up with his wife of almost four years, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, whom he met on the set of Step Up in 2006 and with whom he is expecting their first child.
