Adele Performs, Wins Academy Award For 'Skyfall'

Adele, 24, took the stage on Sunday night's 85th Annual Academy Awards to sing her song, Skyfall, from the most recent James Bond film of the same name, starring Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, and Javier Bardem, and she was, as presenter Jennifer Lawrence called her, "unstoppable."

It was Adele's first performance since the birth of her son last fall, and she later took home the Oscar for Best Song for it. From the power of the performance, you would never know that Adele had had vocal cord surgery just over a year ago.

Adele, who beat out "Before My Time" from Chasing Ice, "Everybody Needs a Best Friend" from Ted, "Pi's Lullaby" from Life of Pi, and "Suddenly" from Les Miserables, also gave a moving acceptance speech, choking up as she thanked co-writer and producer Paul Epworth, who took the stage with her.

Adele was not the only woman who sang in the name of Bond on Sunday night. As part of a 50th-anniversary tribute to James Bond films, the original singer of "Goldfinger" from the 1964 eponymous movie, Shirley Bassey, belted out a spirited version of the song worthy of her voice almost five decades ago.
