In celebration of 50 years of James Bond films, the Academy Awards will feature a tribute to the world’s most famous secret agent.
2013 Academy Awards producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan are thrilled about the tribute. “We are very happy to include a special sequence on our show saluting the Bond films on their 50th birthday," they said in a statement. "Starting with Dr. No back in 1962, the 007 movies have become the longest-running motion picture franchise in history and a beloved global phenomenon."
In his 50-year film history, James Bond has been portrayed by eight actors and has been featured in 25 movies, 23 of them released under Eon Productions. The latest film, Skyfall, starring Daniel Craig, has grossed over $1 billion worldwide, the first of the franchise to do so.
The 85th Annual Academy Awards will air live Sunday, February 24 at 7 p.m. EST on ABC.
