Not satisfied with the past few awards show telecasts? The Oscars want to change that — by going interactive.
Oscar.com, the official online home of the 84th Academy Awards, is launching its Emmy-winning Oscar Digital Experience today with a first look at Billy Crystal’s return to Oscar’s stage. In a backstage video, Crystal talks about what hosting the awards has meant to him over the years and what it's like to return.
On Oscar Sunday, February 26, Oscar.com will have live cameras strategically placed everywhere from the red carpet to backstage and even the Governors Ball, providing the ultimate insider’s view before, during and after the show. The cameras will broadcast online, as well as on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
Oscar.com is also an excellent resource for Oscar history, which users can browse by decade. Here are a few highlights:
– Sidney Poitier becomes the first African-American to win the Oscar for Best Actor for :Lilies of the Field”
