Gwyneth Paltrow's GOOP Celebrates 200th Issue With Holiday Feast

Gwyneth Paltrow's weekly publication GOOP is celebrating its 200th edition with a holiday special featuring "gorgeous festive recipes paired with Cameron Hughes wines." The issue begins with an hors d'oeuvre of smoke trout on rye, a choice of roast pumpkin soup or grilled raicchio wedge salad, and is followed by salt-baked sea bass or turkey osso bucco, each paired with curated wines from Cameron Hughes, of which Paltrow says: "I discovered this company a year or so ago and was very intrigued by their idea to make really beautiful wine affordable and accessible. Something I thought our goop readers would appreciate! I know I do." Thanks, gp.

Although it might be easy to dismiss a woman who installs a wood-burning pizza oven in her garden in the middle of a recession, the actress and wife of Coldplay's Chris Martin also provides some gratuitous holiday insight that rings true and universal: "What is holiday spirit? For me, it means helping to create that atmosphere where loved ones feel full of cheer, like some happy secret is about to be revealed. Holiday spirit is a feeling of warmth, of togetherness, of connectedness. We get that by giving. We get it by watching cheeks flush with color when something opened and in the hands conveys a message: I know you, I get you, I see you," says Paltrow. Like what? She provides a list. "For those of you looking for ideas for gifts to unwrap, see below. There are some tried and loved gadgets, candies, and a couple of luxury items for good measure. I found a cool way to do Christmas cards, which benefits the Robinhood Foundation. There are big gaps to make up this year for charitable organizations, giving is down and people need help. Donating to your local foodbank is always a very good idea. Do whatever you can, on whatever scale you can. It's all about the intention."
