The 87th Annual Academy Awards is approaching, with nominees enjoying the celebratory Oscar Nominees Luncheon.
Oscar nominees gathered on Feb. 2, for the annual Oscar Nominees Luncheon at the Beverly Hilton. The nominees – over 150 people – were in attendance to celebrate their work and mingle with their Academy Award-nominated peers. Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron addressed the audience and made a plea to the nominees to keep their victory speeches short and sweet. “As for the show, we are there to honor each and every one of you, but the telecast itself is successful if the pacing of the evening feels brisk,” said Zadan.
In addition to giving nominees a goal time limit of 45-seconds, Zadan also offered some words of advice, saying, “The speeches that are remembered beyond Oscar night are those that are personal, funny and heartfelt. The words should be spoken from your heart and not from a list written on a piece of paper. The viewers are hoping that you inspire and touch them in some way.”
Harris, of course, will make his hosting debut at the 87th Oscars, set to take place Sunday, Feb. 22, at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. The Academy Awards will air live at 7 p.m. ET/ 4p.m. PT on ABC.
