Milly by Michelle Smith, a ten-years-old label that will fit into the budgets of more than just movie stars, is known for its bold, bright-colored prints and modern sense of flare and fun. For its spring collection designed for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Smith married her signature prints with vintage hoop skirts, slim waists and scoop necks.
There were also a few elements that would only appear on the runway in this century. "My Spring 2012 collection is modern and geometric in cut and print, softened by earthy materials like wood and tortoise resin," Smith said. "Colors are vibrant and exciting- vermilion, tangerine, jade and azure are grounded by chocolate brown and indigo."
The effect was well-received by onlookers and bloggers. "The collection looks very practical, yet spirited and upbeat," said Recessionista blogger Mary Hall. "These looks can take most women from the office to the cocktail party."
