STARZ’s newest show, Outlander, which follows Claire Randall’s (Caitriona Balfe) journey through time, will premiere at Comic-Con.
In 1945, Claire and her husband Frank go on a second honeymoon, trying to rekindle their love after being separated by the events of World War II, when she is somehow transported back to the 1740s. With the help of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), she may be able to make it back through the time warp to 1945.
At the 2014 Comic-Con in San Diego, fans will get to learn more about the new series based on books by Diana Gabaldon. Cast and crewmembers will sit on their very own panel at Comic-Con and, along with author Gabaldon, will also be on hand to greet fans at several events throughout the weekend.
3 p.m. – 4 p.m.: Ali Kokmen will moderate a solo talk/reading/Q&A by Gabaldon in the Horton Grand Theater.
2:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.: Room 6A will host a panel with the stars of Outlander. This panel will include appearances from Ron D. Moore, who transformed Gabaldon’s books into a television series, and many of the show’s actors. Fans will get to hear from Balfe, Menzies, and Heughan, along with Lotte Verbeek and Graham McTavish. Fans will also be able to ask the actors questions about the series, and will likely get a sneak peek.
3:45 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.: Moore, Gabaldon, and the aforementioned actors will be signing autographs at the STARZ Comic-Con booth.
7 p.m. – 10 p.m.: The red carpet premiere of Outlander will take place in the Spreckels Theater. The cast will be present for this event and Moore and Gabaldon will have a moderated Q&A.
12 p.m. – 12:45 p.m.: Heughan will partake in TV Guide’s Fan Favorites panel. Other currently popular actors will join him, such as Misha Collins from Supernatural, Colin O’Donoghue from Once Upon a Time and Aisha Tyler from Archer, among others.
4:15 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.: The “Ruler of the Realm” panel will take place in Room 6A. Gabaldon and other authors, including George R. R. Martin, author of Game of Thrones, Joe Abercrombie, writer of Half a King, Lev Grossman, who wrote Magicians, and Patrick Rothfuss, author of The Kingkiller Chronicle, will speak on “fantasy literature, fandom and how they mastered their craft.”
Outlander is set to premiere on STARZ August 9 of this year in the United States.
