Hall H Day 1: Benedict Cumberbatch To Make His Comic-Con Debut And More

The infamous Hall H will be bursting with popular film and TV panels this week at Comic-Con 2014, including an appearance by Sherlock himself, Benedict Cumberbatch.

San Diego Comic-Con’s infamous Hall H will play host to the BBC’s star detective, Cumberbatch, but, unfortunately, the actor will not be attending as part of a Sherlock event. Instead, Cumberbatch will appear on Comic-Con 2014’s inaugural Hall H panel: Dreamworks Animation.

Hall H Thursday Schedule

Dreamworks Animation 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Moderator Craig Ferguson will speak with Cumberbatch, John Malkovich and Tom McGrath, who voice characters in the studio’s newest installment to the Madagascar series, Penguins of Madagascar. Directors Simon J. Smith and Eric Darnell are also set to attend, as is Home director Tim Johnson. This will be Cumberbatch’s first time at Comic-Con, though he did send in a special video message to fans at last year’s Sherlock panel.

The Giver 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.: Author Lois Lowry will attend the panel celebrating the film adaptation of her sci-fi hit novel. Fans will get to see exclusive new footage from the film and be introduced to Australian star Brenton Thwaites. Stars Jeff Bridges, Odeya Rush and director Phillip Noyce will also appear.

Paramount Pictures 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.: Paramount Pictures will take over Hall H next, and, while no details have been confirmed by the studio, audiences are expected to get a sneak peek at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and stars Megan Fox and Will Arnett are rumored as surprise guests.

Entertainment Weekly: The Visionaries TV Showrunners 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.: This is a can’t-miss panel for any TV lover, especially those interested in how showrunners get their ideas, choose their arcs and consider fan feedback. Sleepy Hallow and Scorpion showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will be featured on the panel alongside The Vampire Diaries/The Originals’ Julie Plec, Greg Berlanti of Arrow and The Flash, and Veronica Mars/iZombie showrunner Rob Thomas. Attendees can also expect lots of inside scoop and teases for the upcoming season.

Batman ’66 6:00 p.m. – 7: 00 p.m.: Batman will close out Hall H’s first day of Comic-Con adventures with a huge panel celebrating Batman: The Complete TV Series DVD release. Adam West, Burt Ward and Julie Newmar will all be in attendance to dish on the series with moderator Ralph Garman. Fans of the cult show will also get to see exclusive footage featured on the DVD release, which won’t be out until November.
