Comic-Con Introduces New Hall H Wristbands: Everything You Need To Know

Hall H won’t be playing host to Comic-Con 2014 events until Thursday morning, but fans are already lining up outside the convention’s biggest, and most elusive, auditorium.

Hall H, which will host the highly anticipated panels from Marvel (The Avengers: Age of Ultron) and Warner Bros (Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice), is known for its crazy lines and massive crowds. Attendees who have their hearts set on attending any Hall H event are advised to camp out the night before and spend all day sitting in Hall H until their desired panel to ensure a spot.

Toucan Tracker Wristbands

In an effort to lower in-line tensions, San Diego Comic-Con is introducing the new Toucan Tracker Wristbands, given out to those lined up in front of Hall H before the first panel of the day. The wristbands do not guarantee entry, but will hopefully allow both attendees and Comic-Con officials to gauge one’s chances of getting a seat at the panel.

The Toucan Tracker Wristbands will only be distributed for the first panel of the day, beginning the night before as hopefuls set up camp. Wristbands will be given out until 1:00 a.m. and distribution will resume at 5:00 a.m. on the day of.

In an effort to keep track of the Hall H line, wristbands will be color-coded, allowing those at the back of the line to decide if they want to take their chances waiting in line, or try their luck somewhere else.

“[The wristband] shows Comic-Con – and you – that you are one of the people who will likely be admitted to Hall H for the first panel of the day. We will also use the data collected to place signs along the line route which will let attendees know how many people would have to leave the room in order for them to enter,” reads the FAQ section of the official Comic-Con website.

Only those with wristbands will be allowed to enter Hall H for the first panel of every day. For all other panels, the line will proceed as usual. While wristbands will be color coded – the line will be split into four sections, each with a designated color – they will not serve as numbers or placeholders in line, meaning that if your entire party leaves the line, you will not be allowed to return to your place, but will be sent to the back of the line. If a member of your party does stay in line, than you will be allowed to reenter the line according to your wristband color. Furthermore, the requirement that every first panel attendee have a wristband will make standing in line in shifts with other members of your party or group more difficult. A member of your group cannot collect wristbands for your entire party – the policy is one wristband per person.

As of Wednesday morning, eager attendees have begun waiting in line in Plaza Park, which is next to Hall H. Those setting up camp will have to follow strict regulations – no tents or cots allowed – and the only official restroom access will be in the Convention Center’s Lobby G from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. every night.

The Dreamworks Animation panel will kick off Hall H’s exciting line-up Thursday at 11:30 a.m., with Benedict Cumberbatch scheduled to attend.
