Sue Sylvester Gets Sappy On 'Glee' Christmas Special

There’s nothing like a Christmas special. Glee has already made its way into my heart by remaking songs, both new and old, but what really gets me going are their Christmas specials. They make me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside, even if I don’t have hot chocolate next to me.

“Glee, Actually,” which was last nights episode of the currently running season, introduces Rory Flanagan (Damian McGinty) as the Ghost of Christmas past in what seems to be the scariest introduction in Glee history. Rory shows him what life around William McKinley would be if a wheelchair-less Artie Abrams (Kevin McHale) roamed the halls. It’s not so pretty. Turns out that Finn (Cory Monteith) and the guys from the Glee club are football jocks. Kurt (Kris Colfer) gets a surprise visit from his father, Burt (Mike O’Malley), for Christmas Eve who then gives him an even bigger surprise. Burt brings Blaine (Darren Criss) to New York, and he and Kurt ice skate in the Bryant Park CitiPond.

Puck convinces his little brother, Jake (Jacob Artist), to go to Hollywood with him and have their own little Christmas — but things don’t go as planned when Puck and Jake get caught using someone else’s home. Instead, they fly back to Ohio and get their moms (because they’re half-brothers) together to celebrate.

It’s the end of the world as Sam (Chord Overstreet) and Brittany (Heather Morris) know it. Brittany watches a documentary on the Mayans and gets scared. She takes out all the money she saved to get her fellow Glee Club mates some rather expensive gifts. Apparently, Sam is on the same page as her and they decide to get married. Don’t worry, Coach Beiste (Dot-Marie Jones) conducted a fake wedding ceremony, so that they won’t regret getting married in future.

Meanwhile, Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) gets Marley’s mother, Millie (Trisha Rae Stahl) in the Christmas spirit. She overhears her and her daughter, Marley (Melissa Benoist) in the cafeteria talking about money issues and Marley’s eating disorder (remember when Marley passed out at Sectionals?). Sadly, they don’t have it in their budget to buy a Christmas tree. Sue gets warmhearted and buys one for the Rose family and leaves a wad of cash, too.

In the end, most of the characters reunite in the auditorium and sing “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” to thank Sue for her generosity. If that doesn’t put the angel on top of the tree, I don’t know what will.

Glee airs on Thursday at 8 ET on Fox.
