A zombie attack warning aired during the regular programming of a Montana television station on Monday.

Somehow, hackers broke their way into the Emergency Alert System of Great Falls affiliate KRTV and its CW station, according to the Montana Television Network. After hijacking the programming, the hackers broadcasted that “dead bodies are rising from their graves” and “attacking the living.” The warning even cautioned the listening public to not “approach or apprehend these bodies as they are extremely dangerous.”

Although the hoax was ultimately innocuous, the network engineers are looking into how the hackers pulled off their stunt. A few people did take the time to look into the threat, but there was nowhere near the hysteria that ensued in 1938 when Orson Welles performed his infamous Halloween broadcast, convincing the station’s listeners that the world was succumbing to an alien invasion.

Some are speculating that the perpetrators behind the deep monotonous voice warning of a zombie apocalypse could be a part of a viral campaign promoting AMC’s The Walking Dead, which took in 12.3 million viewers on Sunday.
