Zack Snyder Shows Image Of Green Lantern Before He Was Removed From His Cut Of ‘Justice League’

Zack Snyder has revealed an image of the iconic superhero John Stewart/Green Lantern who was supposed to be played by Wayne T. Carr. The image featured Carr in a motion capture suit where the actual Green Lantern suit would have been done with CGI. The character was supposed to appear in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. However, he was eventually cut from the finished product. The photo itself was shown to be very blurry, but Carr can nonetheless be clearly seen as the character.

The decision to remove John Stewart from the film was not Snyder’s but rather Warner Bros. which was still extremely reluctant to use the character after the massive critical and financial failure of the Green Lantern movie from 2011. It has been revealed by Snyder that the character J’onn J’onzz/Martian Manhunter (Harry Lennix) who appeared at the end of Zack Snyder’s Justice League was originally supposed to be Carr as John Stewart/Green Lantern. Regardless of Carr’s role in the film, Snyder has confirmed that the character was supposed to be a major hero in the DC Extended Universe moving forward prior to the director’s departure.

According to Snyder, John Stewart was supposed to have a major role in his scrapped Justice League movies where he would be part of Bruce Wayne/Batman’s (Ben Affleck) team in the fight against Darkseid (Ray Porter) alongside Deathstroke (Joe Manganiello), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), Mera (Amber Heard) and the Joker (Jared Leto). “So basically what was going to happen is he had two roles,” Synder told Heroic Hollywood. “One, we would have seen him in the post-apocalyptic world. He was kind of like their scout and kind of like their, you know, ‘join the team.’ And then in the final battle against Darkseid, he would have gotten the Green Lantern Corps. and organized them to fight against Darkseid. Those would have been his jobs.”
