ZACK DE LA ROCHA RELEASES NEW SONG
The song is the first off de la Rocha’s still-untitled solo album, set for release next year. The song, called “Digging for Windows,” was produced by El-P, while guitarist Matt Sweeney and producer Nick Hook contributed as well.
The rapper has mostly stayed quiet since releasing 2008’s LP One Day as a Lion with Jon Theodore.
“He’s been working his ass off here in the last couple of years,” former Rage Against the Machine bassist Tim Commerford told Rolling Stone in 2015. “The kid is an amazing musician. He built a studio in his house, and he’s there all the time making a One Day as a Lion full album. That’s his band, and he’s a ‘one band’ kind of guy.”
De la Rocha delivers bleak lines with force, rapping: “I stare at a future so toxic/ No trust in the dust of promise/ Won’t mark a name on a ballot/ So they can be free to devour our options.” The refrain repeats “where the days are all night.”
