Zachary Quinto took the time to pay respect to his Star Trek co-star Anton Yelchin — during his interview with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show Friday night.
“I don’t even know how to talk about it,” Quinto admitted, after Colbert asked about Yelchin’s death. “We already knew this would be a bitter-sweet experience because of the loss of Leonard [Nimoy] last year, but this has just been absolutely devastating for all of us.”
“I think our goal just has to be to celebrate his incredible life, and honor him as much as we can. It was a terrible loss, not only to us personally, but I think to the industry and audiences,” the actor said. “He was such a talent.”
Yelchin is set to star in the upcoming Star Trek Beyond film, which premieres in theaters on Jul. 22.
“I think we take it for granted in a lot of ways because we genuinely love each other so much,” Quinto praised his Star Trek cast. “We are truly intertwined, inextricably and we always will be.”
