YouTube Star Ben Potter’s Cause of Death Revealed

YouTube personality Ben Potter, known to millions of fans as Comicstorian for his dramatic readings of comic books, was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash in northern Colorado on Wednesday.

Potter, 40, died at the scene of the accident around 9:20 a.m. on June 8 on Interstate 25 near Fort Collins, according to a statement from the Colorado State Patrol.

The Windsor resident was driving a silver Toyota 4Runner southbound when the vehicle traveled off the right shoulder of the interstate, the state patrol said. It crossed over the frontage road, paralleling the interstate before rolling over multiple times.

Potter, who was wearing a seatbelt, was the sole occupant. No other vehicles were involved. While the cause of the crash remains under investigation, impairment and excessive speed are not considered factors at this time, authorities said.

With a following of over three million YouTube subscribers, Potter had turned his passion for comic book storytelling into an internet sensation over the past decade. Since launching his channel in 2014, he created nearly 4,000 videos featuring animated readings from DC and Marvel comics pages.

His wife, Nathalie Potter, announced his death in an “unfortunate accident” on Monday. She said Wednesday that she plans to continue Potter’s creative work to honor his legacy.

“His channel was one of his greatest accomplishments, and while we all need our time to mourn him, I know he wouldn’t want it to end like this,” Nathalie wrote on social media. “Ben spent over ten years spreading his love and appreciation for his hobbies.”

She added, “The team and I want to keep that going. To honor him by continuing to tell great stories by great people, as well as to keep the memory of our very own superhero alive.”
