As of now, no cause of death has been released and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Last year, St. John went on a four-month-plus hiatus after seeking a leave of absence to undergo psychiatric treatment after a reported scare involving his mental health. The actor had been open about his struggles with depression after the unexpected loss of his son, Julian, who committed suicide four years ago. At the time, he and his ex-wife Mia’s son was seeking treatment at a mental health facility. The couple sued the facility for negligence and the case was settled out of court.

On St. John’s Twitter account, the last activity on January 21, involved a retweeted message about losing a child. “Grieving the loss of a child is a process. It begins on the day your child passes, and ends the day the parent joins them,” it read.

St. John is best known for his role on The Young and the Restless. Over a decade-long career on the show, he won two Emmy awards for playing the character Neil Winters. St. John’s also appeared in shows including Happy Days, Wonder Woman, and the miniseries Roots: The Next Generations. He also had recurring roles on Diagnosis: Murder and Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper.
