Yoga Instructor Kaitlin Armstrong Found Guilty Of Murdering Cyclist Moriah Wilson Over Romance With Boyfriend

Kaitlin Armstrong, a Texas yoga instructor, has been found guilty of murdering professional cyclist Moriah Wilson.

Armstrong was accused of gunning down Wilson after she suspected she was romantically involved with her ex-boyfriend, Colin Strickland. The jury deliberated the case for just over two hours.

Wilson was shot three times last year at a friend’s apartment in Austin, Texas, where she was staying for a gravel bike race.

A day after Wilson’s killing, police viewed Armstrong as the prime suspect.

Armstrong sold her Jeep, flew to New York City and used her sister’s passport to fly to Costa Rica. There, she settled in a small beach town, dyed her hair, used an alias and had plastic surgery to change her appearance.

Armstrong was arrested on June 29 at a hostel.

She has been held on a $3.5 million bond since then. Armstrong has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder for Wilson’s death.

Wilson’s family was in the court during the verdict.

Her mother, Karen Wilson, told reporters that her daughter was destined to “live and move and shine and listen and laugh and be such a unique person.”

 “It was the worst moment of my life. My whole life has never been the same since. Everything is upside down. I will never be the same,” she said when she learned of the death of her daughter.

Her brother, Matthew Wilson, expressed disappointment that she will never be able to live a full life.

“My sister had her life taken from her for no reason at all,” he said. “She’ll never ride a bike again; she’ll never take a 20-minute break from work to bake banana bread in her kitchen; she’ll never get married; she’ll never buy a home; she’ll never have kids; she’ll never meet someone that she loves and… my parents will never be able to see that happen, to see her enjoy her life.”

Armstrong faces up to 99 years in prison at sentencing.
