Xbox One Will Have Nov. 8 Release

Xbox One’s upcoming Nov. 8 release has impatient gamers and fans riled up, as the Xbox One Day One Edition packs grow scarce.

Microsoft unveiled the new console in May, calling it a system for the next generation of gamers.

“Today, we look forward. It’s time for technology to step behind the curtain and for you and entertainment to take center stage,” Don Mattrick, Microsoft president of interactive business said at the unveiling.

The Xbox One includes a gaming console with an HDMI cable, a newly designed controller, a new headset, and a Kinect sensor.

Xbox One is being marketed as a new and inclusive way to enjoy all your entertainment in one place – television, music, gaming, internet, movies and more will all be available through one outlet and one remote. The console features outlets for USB connectors, among others, and also has a Blu-ray drive. Xbox One also gives users the ability to Skype while playing or watching television and has split-screen capability.

With Kinect, the Xbox One system will be able to recognize the owner and program his or her entertainment likes and dislikes into memory.

“Xbox One gets to know you. It learns what you like and what you don’t. And brings it all together on your own personal home screen. And because every Xbox One comes with Kinect, it responds naturally to your voice, movements and gestures,” boasts the Xbox One website.

The special Day One Edition comes with a collectible controller and a bonus digital download. Microsoft also announced plans to release three special edition games for Day One Edition buyers. Ryse: Son of Rome, Forza Motorsport 5 and Dead Rising 3 will be released with exclusive Day One Edition content available soon after the official release of Xbox One.

Xbox One also marks the first big step in Microsoft’s new partnership with Steven Spielberg, who appears in a commercial for the console. Spielberg is reportedly working on a Halo-inspired television show.

Xbox One costs $499.99 and is available for pre-order now. Rumors this week say that the Xbox One will be officially released on Nov. 8.
