The Xbox One S is now available for purchase and the only game console that features a UHD Blu-ray drive for your 4k movie needs. Microsoft’s newly designed console is in high demand and there are only a limited amount of 2TB launch editions at Microsoft stores and local retailers.
The Xbox One S packs in some cool features that make the upgrade from the older (and much bigger) original console worth it. The 2TB version comes with the console, the vertical stand, controller, HDMI cable and power cable. Buyers also receive a code for a 14-day Xbox Live Gold trial. Its refined controller is compatible with Bluetooth devices and has rounded seams and some texture on the underbelly for a better grip.
The Xbox One S is much more aesthetically pleasing to the eye than the original Xbox One. Its visual design features a robot white chassis with matte black accents. The cooling vents are no longer slants built into the base, but neat looking circular perforations. The new console is 40% smaller than the original, measuring 11.6×8.9×2.5 inches. At 6.4 pounds, the console is 1.4 pounds lighter than the Xbox One. The S comes with 4K capability and supports HDR contrast on games and videos. The system also supports Ultra HD streaming from Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
Critics appreciate how much quieter the S is compared to the original Xbox One. Gamers won’t be disturbed by a loud optical drive or a console that overheats while using the S. Engadget hailed the improved functionality of the product: “I’m in disbelief that Microsoft managed to cram the same hardware and a power supply into a dramatically smaller package. Thanks to all of this, putting the console in a backpack or messenger bag to use away from home is actually feasible.”
