Wynonna Judd has addressed worries about her health after she opened the 2023 CMA awards to help Jelly Roll perform his hit “Need a Favor.”
During the set, fans noticed that Judd seemed a bit stiff, despite a powerful vocal performance from her. Many wondered if she was sick or struggling to keep her balance.
“Ok so they say don’t read the comments – I’ve read the comments!” Judd said in response in a video message shared on her TikTok and Instagram accounts. “I’m just gonna come clean with y’all. I was so freakin’ nervous! I got out there and I looked at Jelly Roll. I wanted it to be so good for him. I could cry right now, but I’m not going to because I’m such a fan of his and he asked me to sing and I said, ‘Absolutely!’ I got out there and I was so nervous that I just held on for dear life, and that’s the bottom line.”
Judd also confirmed that she was on her way to a show in Texas, which is a part of her Back To Wy tour, which further dispelled rumors about her poor health.
Judd has faced some challenges in recent years, in 2022 she had to cancel a New Year’s Eve performance due to a bout of vertigo. In the same year, she also lost her mother to suicide.
