Mark Schultz, the wrestler portrayed by Channing Tatum in Foxcatcher, has had a change of heart about the movie based loosely on his experiences with John du Pont and is now calling for director Bennett Miller‘s head.

Mark Schultz Turns On ‘Foxcatcher’

In a lengthy Facebook post on Dec. 30, Schultz offered a factcheck for Foxcatcher. The wrestler bemoaned the fact that Miller’s film did not recognize his 1985 World Title and painted him as emotionally weak and timid. He also noted several other discrepancies having to do with his wrestling abilities, particularly in comparison to his late brother, Dave Shultz. Schultz also found the scene, which some viewers thought suggested a sexual relationship between du Pont and him, problematic.

Schultz also went on an all-caps rant on Twitter on Dec. 31, seemingly more enraged than he’d been the day before.

“YOU CROSSED THE LINE MILLER. WE’RE DONE. YOU’RE CAREER IS OVER. YOU THINK I CAN’T DO IT. WATCH ME,” he wrote in since-deleted tweets. “YOU THINK I’M GOING TO SIT BACK AND WATCH YOU DESTROY MY NAME AND REPUTATION I SWEAT BLOOD FOR. YOU AINT’ SEEN NOTHING YET DUDE. I BUILT THIS HOUSE AND I’LL TEAR IT DOWN. YOU THINK I CAN’T TAKE YOU DOWN COZ UR A DIRECTOR. WATCH ME BENNETT.”

“I CAN TOLERATE A LOT OF THINGS BUT I DON’T TOLERATE DISRESPECT. WE’RE DONE BENNETT,” Schultz continued, “Everything I’ve ever said positive about the movie I take back. I hate it. i hate it. i hate it. I hate it. i hate it. i hate it. I hate it. I HATE BENNETT MILLER. I HATE EVERYTHING THAT SCUM TOUCHES. EVERYTHING!!!”

Up until recently, Schultz seemed to give Foxcatcher and Miller his full support, even appearing at the Cannes Film Festival alongside the director and film’s stars.

Foxcatcher has received numerous Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominations and is expected to receive a number of Oscar nods as well.
