The world’s largest loop roller coaster is coming to Six Flags Great America.
A 100-foot loop coaster, which has been dubbed a “world-record breaking attraction” has been added to the 2018 schedule at Illinois’ Six Flags Great America, aka the Thrill Capital of the Midwest. The announcement was made at 3 a.m. from park officials, who said, “Coming in 2018 is the world’s largest loop coaster. This world-record breaking attraction will take riders forward and backward on a gigantic loop before suspending them completely upside down for plenty of wicked hang-time.”
According to the statement, the coaster has not yet been named, but will be located in the Mardi Gras section of the park. It will take over the location of the tumbling platform ride King Chaos, which was removed from the park on Aug. 27.
The ride specifications describe it as having 360-degree revolutions with multiple inversions and include 32 seats with guests seated back-to-back and face-to-face. It also mentions an inverted hang-time for riders, which will suspend them upside down for various time periods during the ride.
“Six Flags continues to prove that innovation is in our DNA and we are thrilled to introduce yet another world-record breaking coaster to our impressive arsenal of thrill rides,” said park president Hank Salemi following the announcement. “Standing at 100 feet tall, this is an experience our guests cannot get anywhere else on the planet. With the multiple inversions and record hang-time, this new coaster packs a punch and is going to be one of our most intense attractions.”
