On the heels of Ariana Grande‘s Manchester One Love concert, the World Naked Bike Ride rolled through the UK city Friday.

Hundreds of nude and partially-clothed bikers set off in the evening sunshine on Friday from All Saints Park in the university area of Oxford Road to pedal through the city’s streets.

The dress code moto is ‘bare as you dare’ and full or partial nudity is encouraged.

The annual event takes place in more than 70 cities across the world, and hopes to draw attention to the vulnerability of cyclists on the road, while protesting against the dangers of the car-centric culture in the city. It’s also about celebrating bikes and cycling, bodies and low-impact living.

Last year, organizers said: “The WNBR is a fun way to show that cycling is inclusive and is suitable for all, while also highlighting cyclist’s fragility and that when a cyclist is hit by a vehicle they have little protection from the impact and might as well be naked.

“It has always got an amazing reception from the people of Manchester with cheers from people watching, with many people wishing they had taken part.”
