Woody Allen will play a pimp in John Turturro’s Fading Gigolo, in which he plays Allen’s lone employee and serves as both the film's writer and director.

Allen is rarely seen in films helmed by directors other them himself with scripts penned by another screenwriter’s pen, but the iconic filmmaker insists that that isn’t his own doing. "I've always been open to acting in other people's films, but no one has ever asked me to be in their films, only two or three times in 30 years," Allen said in an interview with Yahoo last year. "When John Turturro asked me to be in Fading Gigolo, I said sure."

In the film, Allen’s failing bookstore owner-turned-pimp recruits florist Turturro to help them both make a quick buck or two – threesomes, a running joke in the trailer, pays two grand. The two actresses who play the two adventurous clients are Sharon Stone and Sofia Vergara, both of whom appear to become regulars of the entrepreneurs.

Fading Gigolo, which will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, also stars Liev Schreiber, Bob Balaban, and Jill Scott.
