A Wonder Woman short film posted to YouTube on Sep. 30 has received nearly 3 million views and has led fans of the female superhero to call for a full-length film starring their heroine.

Director Sam Balcomb has been laboring over the Wonder Woman teaser for the last several months, attempting to capture the essence of what a film with her front and center could be like. “It's a scant two and half minutes, but in the end, it's 150 seconds of pure fantasy,” Balcomb said. “Where I get to consider the two sides of my favorite warrior: a crusader in man's world, and a paragon of virtue told through Greek mythology. “

Starring in the short is Rileah Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt, 34, has appeared in short films Saber and The Tivo, as well as TV series Team Unicorn and Holliston and the Hatchet films. She’s married to director Adam Green, who she’s worked with on numerous occasions.

A top comment on the video sharing site by Anna Jones read, “This is amazing. We need this in our cinemas! Let Kathryn Bigelow and Joss Whedon helm this and Diana [of Themyscira aka Wonder Woman] will knock us all on our a–es! This is a serious SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY moment! Go, go, go!

Los Angeles production company Rainfall Films, who backed Balcomb’s short, promised at Comic-Con that it would deliver on a film featuring the neglected female DC superhero.
