Woman Taking Selfie Destroys $200,000 Of Art In L.A. Exhibit [VIDEO]

A woman in Los Angeles destroyed a whole row of pieces of art while trying to get a selfie.

The whole thing was caught on camera and can be seen in the 35-second surveillance video below.

The sculptures were a part of Hong Kong-based British artist Simon Birch‘s latest immersive art project at The 14th Factory, a temporary art exhibit held in a 150,000-square-foot warehouse in Los Angeles.

For the woman, her goal of snapping a selfie with the art went horribly wrong. The surveillance video shows her crouching down next to an exhibit titled ‘Hypercaine’ (2016). It consists of a grid of 60 pedestals, with each one displaying some type of crown fashioned from various materials (including precious metals such as gold and silver).

Three of the crown sculptures were permanently damaged and others to varying degrees, Jocelyn Ingram, a spokesperson for 14th Factory Foundation, said in an interview.

“Each sculpture that had fallen involves 20 to 30 hours of man labor, including the artist’s conception, 3D designers’ modeling and metal welders and workers’ crafting and assembly,” Ingram said. The approximate cost of damage is $200,000.
