Winnie The Pooh Getting The Slasher Treatment In New Horror Film ‘Blood And Honey’

A horror director is making a bloody re-interpretation of the classic children’s character Winnie The Pooh since rights to the story series by A.A. Milne entered the public domain this year. The film was first discovered as a simple IMDB page by horror outlet Dread Central.

Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey reimagines Pooh Bear and Piglet as mad killers who are “on a rampage” after they are abandoned by Christopher Robin going to college. In film stills, Piglet and Pooh are hulking goliaths with very creepy rubber mask designs.

Pooh’s design is more similar to the character with his face forming a vacant smile, and in some shots, he’s been armed with a menacing-looking hammer as well. They seem to be hunting classic horror victims, a group of 20-somethings making a getaway in a creepy forest cabin.

The film is directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield, who appeared on the Development Hell podcast to explain the film. He confirmed that despite the odd costuming, it is meant to be the real Pooh and Piglet in the film and not just serial killers in masks.

He even mentioned some grisly plot details, like that Pooh and Piglet resort to eating Eeyore because they’re so starved after Christopher Robin left. He briefly discussed the character’s dynamics as well, describing Pooh as the “Alpha of the two,” while Piglet is more like the “little minion.”

Winnie The Pooh is still in post-production and does not have a confirmed release date. Hopefully, this sadistic take on a children’s tale will release this year. Given the swell of viral marketing that the film just received, it would be great to get it out as soon as possible.
