Fans eagerly awaited Willie Nelson, a country music legend, to play his set at Outlaw Music Festival yesterday in Charlotte, North Carolina. However, they were bitterly disappointed when the headliner threw his hat into the crowd and disappeared from the stage before singing a single song.

Live Nation issued a press release that indicated Nelson canceled the concert due to an illness, even though he was just about to perform at the PNC Music Pavilion. Additionally, Live Nation tweeted later that night telling fans to “hold on to their tickets until the new date is announced.”

In February, the 85-year-old country music star canceled several shows when he had contracted the flu.

According to concertgoers, Nelson walked off stage earlier that night but came right back on. When he did this for the final time, fans waited for about an hour until the concert was officially called off.

Nelson’s rep told TMZ that he promises to make it up to his fans in North Carolina.
