Country legend Willie Nelson was arrested over the weekend for possession of 6 ounces of marijuana.

Nelson, 77, a long-time advocate for the legalization of marijuana, could face anywhere from six months to two years of jail time. The singer's tour bus pulled into a checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas when a law enforcement officer noticed a distinctive scent and searched the bus, finding the drug.

Nelson posted $2,500 bail at the Hudspeth County Jail. "We treat him like anybody else," said Sheriff Arvin West to the El Paso Times. This is not the singer's first arrest for drug possession. In 2006, he was arrested in Louisiana for having 20 ounces of marijuana and 3 ounces of magic mushrooms. Six members of his band were charged in January with possession of marijuana and moonshine in North Carolina. Nelson himself sits on the advisory board for the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. –AMY LEE
