Last week, it was reported that William Shatner, Star Trek‘s Captain Kirk, was in the talks with Jeff Bezos about going to space in October. On Monday, Bezos‘ aerospace company, Blue Origin, confirmed that Shatner would be taking off on October 12. At age 90, Shatner will become the oldest person to go into orbit, taking the title from Wally Funk, who also flew with Blue Origin in July.
Shatner shared his excitement for his upcoming journey and confirmed the news with a Tweet announcing his status as a “‘rocket man!'”
The actor will be joined by Blue Origin executive Audrey Powers and crewmates Chris Boshuizen and Glen de Vries on the flight.
