William Bart Colantuano, former star of Ax Men, the History Channel reality show about logging, died on Monday in a helicopter crash in Oregon.
Colantuano was a former Navy pilot who enjoyed the thrill of heli-loging, saying “heli-logging is probably the most fun you can have with your clothes on.”
Colantuano, who appeared on seasons 2 and 3 of the show (2009-2010) as a heli-logger of R&R Conner Aviation, was working over the town of Idanha, Linn County, when witnesses saw Colantuano drop his cargo and crash. Authorities in Linn County confirmed that Colantuano had released the logs prior to the crash, suggesting that he knew something was wrong with the aircraft.
“We are extremely saddened to learn that a member of the Ax Men family, Bart Colantuono, has passed away. All of us at History and Original Productions, along with our Ax Men team, would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Bart. He was an important part of Ax Men when he appeared in Seasons 2 & 3 and his talents will be greatly missed,” reads the statement issued by the History Channel.
