Will Smith Sounds Off On Donald Trump’s Treatment Of Women

Will Smith, who is currently promoting DC Comics summer blockbuster Suicide Squad, is not a fan of how Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump talks about women.

Will Smith On Donald Trump

During one of the primary debates, Trump made one of what would become many inflammatory comments. When asked about his past denigration of women on social media by Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly, Trump proudly admitted he’d name-called actress and former talk show host Rosie O’Donnell, who he had infamously dubbed a “fat pig.” For Smith, using such language is unconscionable.

“For a man to be able to publicly refer to a woman as a fat pig, that makes me teary. And for people to applaud, that is absolutely f–king insanity to me. My grandmother would have smacked my teeth out of my head if I had referred to a woman as a fat pig,” Smith told news.com.au. Smith reiterated that he was equally disturbed by the audience reaction, “And I cannot understand how people can clap for that. It’s absolutely collective insanity.”

Smith who is father to daughter Willow, 16, and sons Jaden, 18, and Trey, 24, would not tolerate that type of language from his children.

“If one of my sons, I am getting furious just thinking about it, if one of my sons said that in a public place, they couldn’t even live in my house anymore,” Smith said.

Looking ahead to November, when Americans will head to the polls and cast their votes, Smith remains confident that his fellow citizens will not elect Trump as the 45th President of the United States.

“For me, deep down in my heart, I believe that America won’t and we can’t [elect Trump],” Smith said. “The importance of leaders is that they have to be level headed, they have to be calm, because when people get scared, they lose their morality and that reptile mind takes over. It’s the type of thing that you see in all forms of nature, but our leaders can’t be that.”

“So, we are not even going to pretend it is going to happen. I have faith in America. America has had really critical times but the good (people) tend to make their way to the top,” Smith added.
