Will Smith spoke about his marriage in a new interview on Sunday, declaring that “there’s never been infidelity” in his marriage with Jada Pinkett Smith.

“Jada and I talk about everything, and we have never surprised one another with anything ever,” said Smith on CBS Sunday Morning.

This statement was a reference to when Pinkett Smith revealed, back in July 2020, about having an “entanglement” with singer August Alsina years ago while she and Smith were briefly separated. The actress explained at the time that she and her husband were able to repair their relationship.

“We have really gotten to that new place of unconditional love,” Pinkett Smith said at the time on her Red Table Talk show.

Though their marriage has been a topic of discussion for many years, Smith had made it clear that he would not let the gossip affect his relationship with his wife.

“I have decided that chatter about my life can be of benefit to people,” Oscar nominee remarked. “I think chatter is the first stage to having a real conversation and being able to truly explore if some of the things in your heart are loving or poisonous.”

The interview also discussed the actor’s recent Academy Award nomination for portraying Richard Williams, father of tennis greats Venus and Serena Williams, in the 2021 biopic King Richard. Along with his best actor nod, the film is also up for best picture, best-supporting actress, best original screenplay, best film editing, and best original song, “Be Alive” by Beyoncé.
