Will Smith Joins James Corden For First Episode Of Apple Music’s ‘Carpool Karaoke’

Will Smith joined a jovial James Corden on the first episode of Apple Music’s new web series Carpool Karaoke.

The series, an expanded version of The Late Late Show with James Corden‘s recurring segment, is available in full on Apple Music but a preview of the premiere was made available on YouTube on Tuesday.

Corden and The Fresh Prince began the show by singing along to Smith’s 1997 classic “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It,” during which, a full marching band gathered around the car to provide “surround sound.”The duo also rapped together on “Boom! Shake the Room.”

In between songs, Corden and Smith discussed whether or not anyone had approached Smith about playing former president Barack Obama in a movie.

“Yes, I talked to Barack about it,” Smith revealed. “He told me that he felt confident that I had the ears for the role.”

The pair of entertainers also discussed Smith’s time in high school. In his last month as a senior, Smith had a hit record playing on the radio.

“In your yearbook, were you named most likely to have already succeeded?” Corden quipped.

Later in the clip, Corden asks Smith some questions to which the 48-year-old star is to answer with one of his most popular catch phrases: “Oh, hell no.”

“Hey, it’s movie night guys, I’ve rented Wild, Wild West,” Corden tells Smith, referencing the poorly reviewed movie Smith started in in 1999. Still, the actor has a sense of humor about it as he delivers his catch phrase without hesitation.

Carpool Karaoke: The Series will air every Tuesday with two 12- to 25-minute episodes on Apple Music, which is only accessible through a subscription. 20 total episodes will air by the end of the first season.

Unlike Corden’s segment on his talk show, the host will not always be in the car with the guest. Instead, celebrities will be paired together to act as host to the other.

A preview for the season shows a slew of guests including, John LegendAlicia KeysShaquille O’NealJohn CenaMaise WilliamsSophia TurnerLeBron JamesAriana GrandeSeth MacFarlaneQueen Latifah, and Jada Pinkett Smith.
