Krysten Ritter has been tossed into the rumor mill for the role of Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of E.L. James’s risque novel Fifty Shades of Grey. Universal and Focus Features purchased the film rights last March, and ever since fans have been wondering who will play Anastasia and the male lead, Christian Grey, who share a complicated sexual relationship.

The speculation gained steam when Ritter re-tweeted an article from Gather about her being in the movie and then responded to a fan who said she would be an ideal fit for the role of Anastasia, Digital Spy reports.

“Updated blog post: ’50 Shades of Grey’ Movie: Krysten Ritter and Anne Hathaway Compete for Ana … – Gather.c: https://t.co/OoRscrJ9”

"Thanks! i would be down. 😉 RT@JustMe_Toni: @50shadesclub between the two it should 100% be @Krystenritter.”

Ritter, 31, currently stars on the ABC comedy Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23. She’s also had television roles on Breaking Bad, Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars and ‘Til Death, and she's appeared in films such as 27 Dresses, What Happens in Vegas and She’s Out of My League.

Other actresses rumored to be up for Anastasia include Emma Watson and Kristen Stewart, while the role of Christian has been a hot topic as well, with people proposing such hearthrobs as Ryan Gosling, Ian Somerhalder and Chris Hemsworth, according to E!.

With only a screenwriter (Kelly Marcel of Terra Nova and the upcoming Saving Mr. Banks) and producers (Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti of The Social Network) locked in, countless other names will surely be rumored to be associated with the project.
