On February 26, the anticipated Fuller House is set to premiere on Netflix with most of the original cast. The cast is back together for 13 episodes with the exception of Michelle Tanner, who was played by twins, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.
The two will be missed, along with their signature catch phrases but there is a valid reason behind why the stars said no to the spin off. First, they do not consider themselves actresses anymore and haven’t acted in anything in over 10 years.
“Ashley said, ‘I have not been in front of a camera since I was 17 and I don’t feel comfortable acting,’” executive producer Bob Boyett told People. “Mary-Kate said, ‘It would have to be me because Ash doesn’t want to do it. But the timing is so bad for us.’”
Along with not acting, the two are focused on their fashion line, The Row and Elizabeth and James. Filming of the show also conflicted with the production of their line.
“Lori [Loughlin] was talking to me about the twins and said, ‘They just won a CFDA award,’” John Stamos, who plays Uncle Jesse, said during a radio interview. “And I’m like, ‘Yeah, that’s like winning an Oscar.’ It was them and Tom Ford. I get where they’re at.”
