Brenton Tarrant, a white supremacist from Australia opened fire at a New Zealand mosque killing 49 and injuring numerous others.
Tarrant, a 28-year-old trainer, authored a 70-page anti-immigrant manifesto that rants about white genocide and apparent hatred of Muslim culture. In the document, Tarrant refers to himself as European, and having European blood as well as touching on his other beliefs.
“I am just a regular white man, from a regular family, who decided to take a stand to ensure a future for my people. My parents are of Scottish, Irish and English stock. I had a regular childhood, without any great issues.” the document reads.
Tarrant claims he had the attack planned for two years prior to the shooting which he live streamed from a helmet camera to his Twitter account which has since been taken down.
Prominent world leaders and political figures have issued responses and shared their sympathy following the attacks with many tightening security around Mosque’s.
