Jelena Ristic has stolen some screen time from her longtime boyfriend, professional tennis player Novak Djokovic, during the 2013 US Open.
Ristic, 27, is an enthusiastic supporter of Djokovic, spotted in the stands wearing a variety of facial expressions. During the tenser moments, she can be seen sitting silently waiting for the next play. When Djokovic scores a point, she’s the picture of enthusiasm, cheering spiritedly as the tennis pro looks for his next strike.
Ristic isn’t just a pretty face in the stands; she’s a business woman running an organization. She currently serves as the director of the Novak Djokovic Foundation. The foundation, which has the moto “Believe in their dreams,” endeavors to “create a lasting change in the lives of children in need in Serbia,” according to its website. "We try to give them hope for future, offer them means and ways to get on the right path where they themselves can make a change in their life.” At Wimbledon, Ristic planned a gala that raised $1.8 million for the cause.
Djokovic defeated the 21st-seeded Russian player Mikhail Youzhny on Thursday to advance to his seventh U.S. Open semifinal in a row. He’ll face off against 9th-seeded Stanislas Wawrinka on Saturday, who beat defending champion Andy Murray in the quarterfinals.
