Adele revealed more about her boyfriend Rich Paul in a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey called Adele One Night Only.
“He’s just hilarious. He’s so funny,” Adele, 33, told Oprah during the interview. “And very smart. Very, very smart. It’s quite incredible watching him do what he does and just the easiness of it and very smooth.”
Her 40-year-old boyfriend is a successful NBA sports agent, who owns his own agency Klutch Sports Group, and represents big-name players like LeBron James, Philadelphia 76ers player Ben Simmons, Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green and many others.
“I met him at a birthday party, we were on the dance floor,” she told Winfrey. “And then we met a couple years later. We went out for dinner, which he says was a business meeting and I’m like ‘A business meeting about what?’ And then it was the first time we hung out on our own. Without friends and I think that was a natural way that people would meet each other in real life.”
Adele was first rumored to be dating the sports agent on July 17, months after her divorce from Simon Konecki was finalized. The couple was first seen together in July, sitting courtside at Game 5 of the NBA finals, where they had joined James to watch friend Chris Paul play on the Phoenix Suns.
During a podcast after the game, ESPN sports writer Brian Windhorst appeared to confirm Adele and Paul’s relationship: “Rich Paul brings his girlfriend to the game to sit next to LeBron. His girlfriend is Adele,” he said. “This is the first time that they’ve come out in public together.”
A few days later on July 24, the pair were photographed by The Sun while out on a date at Cipriani in New York City. But neither star personally confirmed they were dating until September when Adele made their relationship Instagram official. The “Rolling In The Deep” singer posted a photo of her and her beau at the wedding of Los Angeles Lakers player Anthony Davis. The post was captioned with a simple red heart emoji.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Adele called her new relationship “incredible, openhearted, and easiest” relationship she’s ever been in.
She echoed that sentiment in her interview with Winfrey: “[It’s] the first time I’ve loved myself and been open to loving and being loved by someone else,” she said. “Yeah, by arriving and turning up. Maybe I’m getting a different version of him as well. It’s just timing.”
