White House Petition Calling For Deportation Of Piers Morgan Gets 75,000 Signatures

CNN talk show host Piers Morgan, 47, may very well be a man without a country – if petitioners had their say. A petition on the White House website urging the President to deport Morgan has been countered by another petition declaring that the United Kingdom doesn’t want him either.

Morgan has come under fire for an interview with a gun advocate Larry Pratt. Morgan, who has made calls for strict control in the wake of the Newtown shootings, called Pratt “an unbelievably stupid man.”

The petition calling for Morgan to be deported has received almost 75,000 signatures. “British Citizen and CNN television host Piers Morgan is engaged in a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment," the petition reads. "We demand that Mr. Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens.”

A second petition, titled Keep Piers Morgan in the USA, offers two reasons for keeping Morgan stateside. “Firstly, the first amendment. Second and the more important point. No one in the UK wants him back. It will be hilarious to see how loads of angry Americans react,” the petition reads.

As of Dec. 26, the petition to keep the embattled talk show host in America has 1,221 signatures.
