A Wheel of Fortune contestant solved a puzzle with just one letter on the board. The category was “Characters” and only a single letter E was highlighted on the board. Matt DeSanto, a Pennsylvania father of two, quickly tapped his buzzer and blurted, “The Lone Ranger?” Host Pat Sajak laughed in spite of himself and told DeSanto he was correct.
DeStanto ended up collecting $91,892 in winnings, a new record for the show. He said he didn’t do anything special to prepare.
“The wheel definitely worked in my favor,” DeSanto told TODAY.com. “I was extremely fortunate.”
