The Boys has proven to be one of the most popular comic book shows of recent years. Created by Eric Kripke and based on the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis, The Boys’ second season wrapped up on an unbelievably strong note with its dramatic storytelling, exciting action and shocking reveals. With its second season keeping the quality of the show fresh and consistent, it seems that The Boys will manage to maintain its success during the upcoming third season of the series.

At the end of season 2, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and his crew were able to remove themselves from the list of the FBI’s Most Wanted. This happened after they were able to defeat the Nazi turned superhero Stormfront (Aya Cash) and save Butcher’s beloved wife Becca (Shantel VanSantan) and her powerful son Ryan (Cameron Crovetti), who was revealed to be the child of Homelander (Antony Starr), Butcher’s arch nemesis and the most powerful superhero in the world. However, this came at a price as Becca was accidentally killed by Ryan when the latter tried to protect her from Stormfront. After work is done, the Boys go their separate ways. Butcher takes sends Ryan off to a secluded location in order to protect him from Homelander, Frenchie (Tomer Kapon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) live together in the area that they were hiding in, Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) goes back to his family, while Hughie (Jack Quaid) signs up to work for the Senator Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) in order to take down more corrupt superheroes. However, things are not as good as they seem to be, as it is revealed that Senator Neuman is secretly a super-powered being working for the corrupt company Vought and has the ability to make people explode at will. This shows that while our protagonists might feel safe now, the fight against Vought and the corrupt superheroes is far from over.

While there is not an official release date for season 3 of The Boys, there is still much to look forward to. While Stormfront was defeated at the end of season 2, she was not killed and will likely be back for revenge. In addition to the threat of Homelander, Stormfront and Vought, the Boys will likely have to contend with Senator Neuman, who provides control for Vought within the U.S. government along with her frightening super power. The Boys will also have to contend with their own inner demons, especially Butcher who will struggle to move past Becca’s death after finally getting her back. Jensen Ackles will also join the cast as Soldier Boy, a villainous superhero based off of Captain America. The Boys can be watched on Amazon Prime Video and its third season will debut sometime in 2021.
