Adele‘s Grammy performance was one of the most anticipated of the evening, but it was wrecked with audio technical difficulties with the mic setup.

What Happened To Adele’s Mic At The Grammys?

A foreign clanging sound can be heard right in the beginning of the performance and the audio cuts out.

The songstress addressed the problem via Twitter and said, “The piano mics fell on to the piano strings, that’s what the guitar sound was. It made it sound out of tune. Shit happens. X”

She then followed up the tweet, noting that she was indulging in some In N Out Burger. She tweeted, “Because of it though… I’m treating myself to an in n out. So maybe it was worth it.”

Recording Academy President Neil Portnow explained what happened further to Variety. Portnow explained that as the piano was being lifted onto the stage, a microphone in the piano dropped, which caused the audio glitches heard during the broadcast. Technicians tried to correct it by going to a backup system, which caused the feed to be lost for a second.
