On Saturday, she tweeted to the car manufacturer that her husband, Michael Morris, had to abandon his car on Santa Monica Boulevard. “This is what happened to my husband and his car today,” McCormack said in her tweet. “No accident, out of the blue, in traffic on Santa Monica Blvd.”

Even though he had to leave his car behind, there were no injuries from the incident.

Tesla has had issues with their developing auto-pilot feature that have led to fatal crashes, however, McCormack clarified that her husband’s car does not have that feature.

Following her tweets, Tesla released a statement saying that it was “an extraordinarily unusual occurance.” “We offer our support to local authorities and are glad our customer is safe. This is an extraordinarily unusual occurrence, and we are investigating the incident to find out what happened,” the spokesperson told ABC News.

Dan Nagelmann, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman, has confirmed that it was either a battery or mechanical problem that caused the fire and there were no other cars involved.
